Teeties is a fair feminist t-shirt brand. Each t-shirt is hand painted individually for you, making each one very unique. Teeties donates half of its sales to ACZA (http://www.acza-35.fr/), an organization which fights female genital mutilation (FGM) with mentoring programs in the South West of Ivory Coast. By buying a Teeties t-shirt, you support feminist art and body positivity and also help financing the fight against FGM.
ABOUT FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION
Female genital mutilation (FGM) consists in intentionally altering the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. It causes severe pain, bleeding, infections and complications in giving birth that can lead to death. According to the World Health Organisation (https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/female-genital-mutilation), around 200 million girls and women around the world are mutilated. FGM is mostly carried out on young girls under 15 in Africa, as well as the Middle-East and Asia. It does, however, also happen to girls living in Europe with an immigration background who go back to their country of origin for the holidays. FGM is a physical, sexual and psychological violence committed to under-aged girls. It is a violation of their human rights and must therefore be stopped.
ABOUT THE T-SHIRTS
Two words: fair and feminist
Besides being a humanitarian project,
Teeties also is a feminist art initiative. The product consists of a a plain white organic cotton t-shirt made in working and social conditions that are equivalent to those of leading social sustainability standards as required by the Global Organic Textile Standard (https://www.global-standard.org/).
On the t-shirt, you can find beautiful hand painted asymmetric breasts as a logo. It is also possible to get a vulva or a more complicated personal pattern you can see all over the website. Breasts and vulvae are beautiful and not necessarily sexual. Making this kind of art is a way to denounce the objectification of the woman’s body.
